Norris Party Rentals provided all the tents for the Philadelphia Folk Festival including the first aid tent, volunteer tent, concession tents and music tents for the innovative folk artists. As a service to the festival, Norris provided several club cars and over 300 chairs for the music stage area.
Philadelphia Folksong Society
Since its inception, the Philadelphia Folk Festival has been the primary fund raising event for the Philadelphia Folksong Society. Founded as a 501(c) 3 non-profit, educational organization in 1957, PFS provides programs of presentation, education, and participation. Some of these include:
- Season programming: presents historical musical expression as well as innovative folk artists in premier venues throughout PA
- Odyssey of American Music: bring arts in education programs to area schools where budgets have been cut or decreased
- Grants in Aid: Funds various programs, including seed grants for other Festivals and organizations
- Community Service: sends musicians to senior centers, hospices, mental health centers, and other organizations.
The stage at the Philadelphia Folk Festival was rocking with the addition of 300 chairs from Norris Party Rentals. The incredible array of performers included: A.A. Bondy, Amelia Curran, Annie & The Beekeepers, Blame Sally, Bonnie "Prince" Billy & the Cairo Gang, Butch Ross, Chris Smither & the Motivators, Erin McKeown, Gandalf Murphy & The Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Give and Take Jugglers, Giving Tree Band, Groove Band, Iain Matthews, Jah Levi & The Higher Reasoning, Jeff Tweedy, Justin Rutledge, Lee Harvey Osmond, Malinky, Marc Silver & the Stonethrowers, Mickey Clark & the Blue Norther, Mike Cross, Natalia Zukerman, Nudie & The Turks, Richard Thompson, Shannon Whitworth, Sonos, Spinning Leaves, Subdudes, Susan Werner with Trina Hamlin and Natalia Zukerman, Sweetback Sisters, Taj Mahal, Treasa Levasseur, Trina Hamlin and Vienna Teng.
